Moisture decides the system
Concrete below grade breathes water vapor upward, and a mile from the Mississippi it breathes more than most product labels plan for. Coat a damp slab with the wrong system and vapor pressure lifts the coating off in blisters - usually the next spring.
So every basement estimate starts with moisture readings across the slab. The numbers pick the primer: standard penetrating epoxy on a dry slab, a vapor-mitigation coat on a breathing one. Either way you see the readings and the reasoning on the estimate.

Is it a good idea to epoxy a basement floor?
Usually yes, with one condition: the slab has to pass a moisture test first. A coated basement floor is brighter, seals concrete dust for good, wipes clean, and shrugs off the occasional water heater incident. But coating a slab with high vapor drive traps moisture and fails - which is why our estimate starts with a meter, not a color chart.
What if my basement slab holds moisture?
It changes the system, not necessarily the answer. Moisture-tolerant primers and vapor-mitigation coats exist exactly for river-valley basements like ours. If readings are beyond what any honest system handles, we tell you and you keep your money.
What is a metallic epoxy floor?
Metallic pigments folded into clear epoxy and manipulated while wet - the finish moves like polished stone or river water, and no two floors repeat. It has become the signature look for finished basements and rec rooms. The photo on this page is a metallic floor, not marble.
How disruptive is the install in a finished basement?
Grinding runs on dust extraction, so the mess stays in the machine. Furniture needs to be out, and the space needs the cure window before it is walked on. Most basements are a two-to-three-day job depending on repairs and the finish you pick.
